Yuriko Sawamura Anderson is a CPA and a retired tax partner of KPMG. Yuriko served a broad range of Japanese clients during her 25 years with KPMG’s New York City office.
At KPMG, her areas of practice were financial products’ taxation; US withholding tax on investments, information reporting; inbound and outbound structured transactions and advising Japanese and EU companies in regard of FATCA (Foreign Asset Tax Compliance Act) and OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control).
Her KPMG clients included Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd., Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc., Tokyo Marine Asset Management Co., Ltd., Mori Building Co., Ltd., Tokyo Stock Exchange, Japanese Bankers Association, Japanese Securities Association, Japanese Investment Trust Association and many others.
Since retiring from KPMG in 2012, Yuriko has become a licensed NJ realtor. With wide range of properties in her own investment portfolio and a deep knowledge of the international taxation and US regulatory environment, Yuriko advises many Japanese listed and private corporations, such as IS Holdings Co., Ltd., AAI (Advanced Estate Capital Advise International Inc).
Yuriko is an author of many articles on taxation, regulation, and international investment tax matters, including those published in International Taxation, KPMG’s J-Net newsletter, and many other Japanese and US tax, real estate, and investment publications, including the article on US real estate that will appear on Real Estate Economic Institute Co., Ltd. publication this July. She also has been a speaker at many conferences and seminars held throughout the world, including: AREAA (Asian Real Estate Association of America), Zentaku (National Federation of Real Estate Transaction Association of Japan), JARECO (Japan-America Real Estate Coalition Office), and currently is working with the World President of FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) as his direct advisor on a FIABSI exhibition to be held at the MIPIM conference in Osaka, Japan in September of this year.
She is fluent in Japanese, French and English. She is an active member of many organizations, including: the NAASA (National Association of Asian Accountants), AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), FIABSI, AREAA, and NAR (National Association of Realtors). She also holds a Certificate of International Property Specialist from the NAR.
Yuriko was born and raised in Japan, she earned a diploma from the University of Paris X, Nanterre (DEUG – Diplome D’etudes universitaires generales), after attending a French high school in Turkey.
